Question 13. Which Ethernet port should I connect a computer or point-of-sale device to?
At the bottom of the hub, you'll find 2 Ethernet ports. If you have devices such as a point-of-sale system, computer, or switch that require a wired connection, connect them to port 2 (LAN), which is the port closest to the power connector.
14. Can it be used outdoors?
No. The SecureConnect Hub is not intended for outdoor use or in environments without regulated temperature and humidity.
15. Can I move this Hub to another branch location?
Please contact support to coordinate relocation and installation at another branch.
16. What are common and secure profiles?
Common and secure profiles are logical groupings of rules and policies that govern SecureConnect security settings. In SecureConnect, secure and common profiles require authorization for the devices and users assigned to each profile type. Both profiles have specific rules and filters set by the Company Administrator.
In general, devices in secure profiles cannot be accessed by devices in common profiles. In this way, the secure profile has greater isolation and allows stricter rules to be applied to the devices and users operating in that profile.
17. What is the purpose of a guest profile?
Guest profiles allow guests to easily connect to the network without fine-grained authentication (except for a password). Guests are kept separate from the most secure areas of the network (the common and secure profiles). They are subject to rules that govern which sites or types of sites they can visit through DNS filtering.
18. What is DNS filtering?
DNS filtering is a cybersecurity technique that uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to block access to malicious websites and filter out inappropriate content. By intercepting DNS requests, SecureConnect can prevent users from accessing harmful or unwanted sites, improving network security and potentially productivity.
19. How do I adjust DNS filtering?
Within SecureConnect, the Corporate Administrator sets DNS filtering for each profile grouping (guest, common, secure). This is done through a simple interface in the Control Portal.
20. What are insights?
SecureConnect collects information about encrypted network traffic flows. (Privacy is maintained, as the data remains fully encrypted.) Insights provides information about applications, bandwidth, and devices used within the network, as well as other network performance topics. All of this is available to the Company Administrator through the Control Portal.
21. Why don't I see my device in insights?
If a device isn't connected or authorized, it won't appear. If a device is not recognized, it is often given a generic name (e.g., Android device).
22. How often are new insights collected?
This is configured as desired by the Enterprise Administrator, and can be as frequent or infrequent as needed.
23. How does SecureConnect maintain privacy?
Unlike VPN systems, SecureConnect does not decrypt private user information, which significantly improves privacy over other traditional approaches.
24. What are the categories for DNS filtering?
Within SecureConnect, there are many categories and individual sites of content that can be blocked or filtered from access, such as social media or adult content. This is configured by the Company Administrator in the Control Portal.
25. Who assigns a Site Administrator, and can there be more than one?
The Organization Administrator can assign Site Administrators through the Control Portal. There may be more than one per site.
26. Can sites communicate with each other?
Yes, one feature of SecureConnect is the ability to create a virtual network of "sites" (e.g., physical locations or stores), if this is permitted by the Company Administration. This capability can be turned on or off for specific sites.
27. What kind of devices are placed in the secure profile?
Generally, devices and/or users that require greater isolation and security (e.g., cameras, PCI-compliant devices, point-of-sale systems, Site Administrators' laptops).
28. How is a device authorized for a new profile?
One feature of SecureConnect is Zero Trust. Devices and users must be authorized before gaining access to the network. The Company Administrator can authorize users and devices through the Control Portal or the SecureConnect mobile application. Site administrators can also authorize devices and users from the mobile app.
29. How do I know which profile a device is authorized to?
SecureConnect displays the profile and rules assigned to each device or user. This is accessed from Control Center.
30. How many devices can be connected into a given profile?
There is no practical limitation.
31. Can a device within a secure profile connect to a device in a common profile?
In SecureConnect, both secure and common profiles have specific rules and filtering set by the Company Administrator. In general, devices in secure profiles cannot be accessed by devices in common profiles, but devices in the secure profile can connect to devices in the common profile (such as a printer for a print job). In this way, the secure profile has greater isolation and allows stricter rules to be applied to the devices and users operating on it.
32. What do I do if I forget my password?
If you've forgotten your account password, simply select the "Forgot Password?" link on the login pages of the Control Center (browser) or VeeaHub Manager mobile app.
You'll be asked to provide your email address, and then select Submit. You'll be taken to the "New Password" page to create a new permanent password.
33. Is there a mobile app I can use to manage SecureConnect?
Yes. Please find and download the VeeaHub Manager mobile app from Google Play or iOS App Store and log in with your account credentials. Please refer to the VeeaHub Manager User Guide for more information.
34. Can I block access to certain web sites or categories of sites on my network?
Yes. Content filtering, website blocking, and security threat management are all available on the SecureConnect platform.
35. If I have multiple sites/locations running SecureConnect, can I connect to devices between sites?
Yes. With SecureConnect, you can securely connect to devices such as printers, file servers, application servers, NVRs, etc., between multiple site locations. You will simply have to find the IP of that device connected to SecureConnect. This can be easily found on the platform.
