Introduction
VeeaHubs can provide useful statistics about connected clients and throughputs. These can be aggregated at different physical and logical levels.
To view Wi-Fi analytics make sure it is enabled and then select ‘View’ as shown below.
A separate screen will open defaulted to the mesh client statistics and from there Wi-Fi statistics can be viewed from AP (Access Point), Node, Mesh and Site levels by clicking on ‘Dashboards’ on the left-hand side as shown below.
This will show the following list.
Within each of these are statistics at a client level and also at the AP interface level.
Edge-wifi-ap
AP Wi-Fi (aggregation clients)
General
This section displays the following information: the unit serial number, the AP interface selected, the channel number and frequency, and number of active clients currently on the AP. Note, the AP interface can be selected under Access Point SSIDs from the drop list.
Active Clients
This table displays the MAC address for each active client and how long they have been connected.
Connected Clients
This graph displays the total number of connected clients on the selected AP over the user selected time range.
Client Signal Strength Distribution
This graph shows the distribution of received client signal strength (RSS) measured at the selected AP. Darker colour represents more samples.
AP Wi-Fi (Aggregation interface)
General
This section displays the unit serial number, the AP interface selected, the channel number channel frequency and the AP interface selected.
Throughput
This graph shows the total Tx/Rx throughput of all clients on the selected AP.
AP Wi-Fi (List clients)
General
This section displays the channel number and channel frequency of the AP selected.
Client Received Signal Strength (RSS) at AP
This graph shows client signal strength (dBm) received at the selected AP for each client connected. A single or multiple clients may be selected from the list of clients on the right-hand side of the graph.
Client Rate Capability
This shows the theoretical Tx/Rx achievable rates for a client given the RF conditions, across the selected time range, on the selected AP. A single or multiple clients may be selected from the list of clients on the right-hand side of the graph. It is noted that the capability refers to the physical layer rate of the connection and not the rate achievable by applications, including speed tests, which run at a higher layer in the protocol stack.
Connected Duration
This graph shows the cumulative connected duration on an exponential scale for each client for the selected time range on the selected AP.
Note, a drop in the graph indicates that the client disconnected from that particular AP.
Edge-wifi-node
Node Wi-Fi (Aggregated clients)
General
This shows the unit serial number and total number of clients aggregated across connections on all APs on the node selected.
Connected Clients
This graph shows the total number of active connected clients on each AP on the node selected.
Tx/Rx Rate Capability
This graph shows the Tx/Rx achievable rates at the physical layer given RF conditions, over the selected time range, averaged for all clients on all APs in the node selected.
Client Signal Strength Distribution
Distribution of received client signal strength (RSS) on all APs in the node selected. Darker colour represents more samples.
Node Wi-Fi (Aggregated interface)
General
Throughput
This graph shows the total Tx/Rx through of all clients on all APs on the node selected.
Edge-wifi-mesh
Mesh Wi-Fi (aggregation clients)
Active Clients
This shows the total number of clients currently connected on all APs on all nodes of the mesh.
Connected Clients
This graph shows the total number of connected clients on all APs on all nodes of the mesh over a selected time range.
Tx/Rx Rate Capability
This graph shows the Tx/Rx achievable rates at the physical layer for the given RF conditions, over the selected time range, averaged for all clients on all APs on all nodes in the mesh.
Client Signal Strength Distribution
Distribution of received client signal strength (RSS) on all APs on all nodes in the mesh. Darker colour represents more samples.
Mesh Wi-Fi (aggregation interface)
Throughput
This graph shows the total Tx/Rx throughput of all APs on all nodes in the mesh.
Mesh wifi (station affinity)
Mesh Station AP affinity (heatmap)
The Station Affinity panel provides an overview of the density of utilisation of each AP across the stations (iPhones, tablets, etc) over the specified time range for all APs on all nodes in the selected mesh. The legend indicates the number of devices associated with the APs at any point in time which enables the user to quickly obtain a broad overview of the most utilised APs that can then drive RF planning. Use the dropdown list of APs to filter if needed.
Mesh Station AP affinity (time-series)
An aggregation of the number of stations connected to each AP on each node in the mesh over the selected time window. Use the dropdown list of APs to filter if needed.
Station tracker
Mesh Wi-Fi Station Tracker (signal strength thresholds)
Shows the affinity of a Wi-Fi station specified by MAC address in the status bar, between APs on devices in the given mesh, over the selected time window. Multiple MAC addresses may be provided, separated by a pipe, e.g. 1a:80:4f:e2:a3:4c|26:12:65:d4:2c:59
Mesh Wi-Fi Station Tracker (signal strength)
Shows the affinity and signal-strength of a Wi-Fi station specified by MAC address in the status bar, between APs on devices in the given mesh, over the selected time window. Multiple MAC addresses may be entered, separated by a pipe, e.g. 1a:80:4f:e2:a3:4c|26:12:65:d4:2c:59
