Ethernet Ports
Tap the Ethernet Ports button on the Dashboard to view and configure the Ethernet ports on your VeeaHub network. This screen allows you to assign each port to a role—WAN, LAN, or Mesh—based on your network setup.
Port Configuration
Each port can serve one of three roles:
- WAN (Gateway only): Used as the primary wired connection to the Internet (backhaul). Available on the gateway VeeaHub (MEN) only.
- LAN: Connects local devices to the VeeaHub network via Ethernet. Available on any node where a port is free. You can use a switch to connect multiple devices.
- Mesh: Creates a wired link between two VeeaHubs to extend the mesh. This is useful where wireless range is limited or stability is critical. VeeaMesh supports both wired and wireless links.
If your entire mesh is wired, you may disable the wireless mesh—but this is optional.
Example Use Cases
- On the gateway VeeaHub:
Select a port, choose Network, set to Enabled, and configure its role (WAN, LAN, Mesh). The configuration will be synced to all other VeeaHubs in the mesh. - On another node:
Select the same port, but set it to Disabled to override the mesh-wide setting.
Or, select Hub and configure that port locally for custom use.
Port Settings and Options
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Port X | Represents a physical Ethernet port (e.g. Port 1). If Enable is on, the port is active and uses the configuration set here. If off, the port is disabled even if the mesh configures it. |
| Status | Displays the current state (e.g. Active, Disabled, Port Down, DHCP conflict, Not Fitted). |
| Hub / Network |
|
| Enable | Turns the port on or off for use. |
| Mesh | Enables the port as a wired mesh connection. |
| WAN / LAN | Assigns the port role:
|
| Edit Port Name | Rename the port for easier identification. Enter a new name and tap OK. |
| Port 2, Port 3, Port 4 | Each of these can be configured using the same controls as Port 1. |
Visual Indicators
The icon and background color of each port entry give insight into the port’s current status. Additional status messages are shown beneath each port name when relevant.
Notes & Warnings
- If a LAN port is connected to another network with its own DHCP server, a DHCP conflict warning will appear.
- If a port is Enabled but nothing is connected, it will display Port Down.
- If a USB Ethernet adapter is configured but not physically present, the status will show Not Fitted.
- These messages appear either when VHM first connects to the VeeaHub or when you tap APPLY on this screen.
