vMesh is Veea’s proprietary meshing technology that allows multiple VeeaHubs in a network to operate as a unified, self-healing system. This configuration screen allows you to manage mesh-specific wireless settings, including SSID, channel selection, transmit power, and mesh behavior across wired and wireless links.
Note: The vMesh Configuration screen is only available on the Gateway Node (MEN).
To open the vMesh configuration screen:
- Open the VeeaHub Manager app
- Tap your Gateway VeeaHub
- Select 5GHz Mesh from the Dashboard
Mesh Basics
- By default, vMesh runs over the 5GHz band using Wi-Fi
- You can create a mesh using wireless, wired, or hybrid links
- The mesh SSID and password are set when the first VeeaHub is added
- Settings such as channel, power, and wireless operation can be changed at any time
Key Configuration Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Mesh Name | Name of the mesh network. Can be changed from its default. |
| SSID | Wi-Fi network name (1–32 characters). |
| Password | Wi-Fi password (8–63 characters). Used by hubs to join the mesh. |
| Eye Icon | Tap to show or hide the password. |
| WLAN Enabled (Wired Hubs) | Enables wireless broadcasting on wired hubs. - On Gateway (MEN): toggles behavior for connected mesh nodes. - On Nodes (MN): read-only, inherited from Gateway. |
| WLAN Operation (Local Hub) | Defines how the hub participates in the mesh. See full list below. |
| Channel | Wi-Fi channel used for mesh. Auto or manual selection available. |
| Channel in Use | The currently selected channel (useful when Auto is enabled). |
| Exclude DFS | Prevents use of Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) channels during Auto Selection. |
| Auto Channel Whitelist | Limits Auto Selection to a specific set of allowed channels. |
| Wi-Fi Network Scan | Launches a scan of nearby networks to aid in channel planning. |
| Bandwidth | Sets mesh channel width (20MHz or 40MHz recommended). |
| Bandwidth in Use | Displays the currently active bandwidth setting. |
| Enable Beacon | Only on non-gateway hubs. Enables new mesh broadcasting (normally OFF). |
| Transmit Power (%) | Sets mesh transmit power as a percentage of the maximum. |
WLAN Operation Modes
This setting defines how a hub participates in the mesh depending on its connectivity and role.
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Start Network | This hub creates a new mesh using the SSID and password. Other hubs can join it wirelessly. |
| Join Network | This hub joins an existing wireless mesh using the SSID and password. It must be within range. |
| Automatic | Adaptive behavior based on connection and gateway settings: - Wired to gateway + WLAN off → Wireless disabled - Wired to gateway + WLAN on → Wireless enabled - Not wired → Joins mesh over Wi-Fi |
| Disabled | Turns off wireless participation in the mesh. |
Channel Selection & Auto Select
- Auto Selection is available only on VHE09 and VHE10 models
- It chooses the best channel at startup based on environmental signal conditions
- Auto Select is not dynamic; changes only take effect after restart or manual rescan
Recommendations
- Use Auto Selection unless operating in a congested RF environment
- Enable WLAN for wired hubs only if extending mesh wirelessly is necessary
- Adjust transmit power and bandwidth based on your physical layout
