In a Veea Mesh, the MEN VeeaHub holds all the Chirpstack sensitive information such as the device keys. With hundreds of devices, losing such information could be disasterous.
Please follow these steps to ensure sensitive data is protected.
VeeaHub recovery
Sometimes VeeaHub recovery is a necessary step in the maintenance process.
As any other services, LoRaWAN persistent data is restored when a recovery is performed. So after an MEN recovery, the LoRaWAN configuration should remain as before, including Chirpstack data.
VeeaHub Service backup
Through the Veea Control Center, a Veea Mesh administrator has the capability to backup the VeeaHub state.
Such Backup includes Services backup.
In the case of the LoRaWAN package, a backup includes:
-
The LoRa gateway configuration
-
Chirpstack
-
Chirpstack configuration
-
Tenant information
-
Device profiles
-
Applications
-
Devices information
-
For data space consideration, the device profile template and the device payloads aren’t backed-up.
We recommend that a backup is performed each time new devices are been installed on the Chirpstack instance or at any other critical change.
VeeaHub Service restore
A Veea Mesh administrator has the capability to restore a Veeahub state from a previous Backup.
